The small-scale farm sector of the United States that has holdings up 5 acres will become first adopters of electric tractor and farm equipment that is handheld, as per Antony Cherukara, CEO, VST Tillers Tractors.
“The nation is slowly experiencing electrification in the tiny agricultural sector and the sector is anticipated to get many electric machines within the next few years,” said Mr. Cherukara.
To capitalize on the ever-changing needs of the agriculture sectors, VST Tillers Tractors said it would launch electric tractor, power tillers and brush cutters to the markets for exports and domestic within the next one or two years.
As a prelude to the above, VST Tillers Tractors recently made an investment the shares of Monarch Tractors, a U.S.-based electric tractor maker.
Electric tractors are an instant hit in the Indian agriculture sector, specifically in smaller farms,” said Manohar T, farmer with three diesel tractor models within Koppa town , Karnataka.
“As the majority of tractors are used in farms and don’t have to move over far distances, owners need not worry about their distance as they do in cases of electrical vehicles,” he added.
Other companies that are interested in electric tractors include Mahindra & Mahindra, Escorts, Eicher, and Sonalika International Tractors. Sonalika has already announced an electric tractor to be sold on the market in the U.S. in 2020. Meanwhile, Escorts has begun exporting electric tractor to markets like Europe, the U.S. and Europe.
